Automatic Cooling Beds

Automatic cooling bed is a mechanical device equipped with steel bar automatic stop motion. There are braking apparatuses which comes to a halt with the movement of the motion steel bars running freely into the run-in table at or around the predetermined position. Besides, there are one or more oscillators to operate the braking apparatuses and an automatic control board. The signal received from the oscillator transforms to power control by a selective delay apparatuses to operate the braking apparatuses. When a steel bar produced by rolling at the end of the final finishing stand of hot steel bar rolling equipment cools down and is then transferred to the next step. The automatic stop motion further prevents the movement of steel bars into run-in table of the cooling bed and halts the leading ends of each running in steel bar near the terminal end of the bed.

The steel bars of certain diameters and certain length, manufactured using hot strip usually in a large lot in order to minimize the manufacturing loss. Therefore, material used includes ingots or billets. Considering the diameters of steel bar to be produced, during the process of rolling, it is important to cut steel into equal lengths so that equal lengths of rolled sheet can be put into such industrial automatic cooling beds. But sometimes the final sheet rolled out from the material is shorter than the previous ones. Because of the varying inertia, each steel bar sent out of the final rolling process stops at a different point on the run-in table. For this purpose, it is necessary to adjust length while designing such automatic cooling beds which may require incidental equipment, including direct and indirect.

Often, such automatic industrial cooling beds offer slow cooling with insulated covers and forced cooling through water spray systems or water tanks. Therefore, situated at the end, bars are aligned by rollers and separated into orderly layers and transferred into exit roller tables.
