The first use of rolling mill came into existence in 1590 in UK. These early rolling mills were mainly water driven. In 1781 steam engine driven rolling mill came into existence due to the efforts of John Wilkinson, Mathew Boulton and Watt in UK.

Q. What is the Difference between Rolling and Forging Process?
Forging is also one of the oldest metal processing technique, but is different from rolling. In forging process the metal object is processed by using compressive force. The metal object is compressed from both or all sides to change the shape, strength, size of the product. While in rolling process the object is passed through the metal rolls.
